Progressing in Taekwon-do
Last Saturday, we attended Myinthten’s grading. At first, they performed several patterns which was really cool to watch. They demostrated how to escape and defend when attacked from various angles.
Then, the students were to spar with each other. The grandmaster caught them by surprise when they were asked to spar with three people at a time.
If watching them getting beaten up wasn’t enough, some were even asked to break more bricks than was practised. We watched as some got hurt while others held on with the pain.
Nevertheless, the grandmaster was impressed. He said that since everyone already knew the syllabus in and out, it was only fair to test their limits by getting them to perform something unfamiliar, to put in practice what they have learned.
At the end of the day, Myinthten earned his 2nd Dan in Black belt and we are all very proud of him.
